... is a modular exhibition format for children on the topics of climate, biodiversity, sustainability and environmentally conscious cities.

In the Junges Museum, which is integrated into the Historisches Museum, children become researchers and activists as part of the exhibition triad “Die Stadt und das Grün” (Urban Green) - because what does sustainability mean for future generations?

The challenge

To implement complex content for a target group of 7 -15 years in a vivid and playful way.

Our approach

A modular set-up with many participative stations designed as a travelling exhibition.

Skills

Scenography, graphic design, exhibits, film animations

What does climate change have to do with me?

Why are insects and birds dying? What is sustainability and what can I actually do? The children are confronted with these questions in the exhibition and understand people and themselves as the cause, but above all also as the solution to climate change.

“So that our future doesn't become a dystopia, we don't want to stage one either. Instead, we want the children to deal with the complicated challenges of sustainability consciously and, above all, with a lot of fun. To make mediation sympathetic and approachable, we designed a gang of human protagonists and animal sidekicks. The human experts are designed to be as diverse as possible. It was just a lot of fun to illustrate them all.... I hope you can tell.”

Stefan Pach, Creative Director

Activation is the key element of the exhibition.

The children should touch, join in, participate. At different stations and exhibits, creative and careful interaction with nature is encouraged in a playful way and knowledge is imparted. A hands-on forum offers school classes a space for teaching units.

The four protagonists and their animal companions, developed especially for the exhibition, lead through the topics, give tips, question their own behaviour patterns and call for action.

An extensive supporting programme expands the exhibition themes into Frankfurt's urban space.
