In the ÖTZTAL 360 visitor center, an installation was created that impressively shows the visitors the variety of possibilities in the Ötztal. The 360° EXPLORER serves as an interactive experience tool.

The challenge

To navigate with the simplest and most intuitive interaction to all highlights and sights in the Ötztal regardless of the season and to be able to view them as 360° images.

Our approach

To create a modern, interactive media tool that turn seven individual travel planning into an experience in itself.

360° CONCEPT

The ÖTZTAL 360 visitor center in the heart of Sölden is a modern, experience-oriented tourism information center that succeeds in enlivening the entire village center. The location is the central touchpoint in the customer journey and must therefore be closely linked to all other digital and physical touchpoints. In addition to the digital map table and the immersive cinema, the newly developed interactive 360° EXPLORER invite visitors to discover the Ötztal and its activities in a virtual panoramic view.

"To be on the pulse of time and to experience the highlights of the Ötztal was the drive for the development of the 360° EXPLORER– and that detached from space and time. Beyond wind and weather and the space to explore the area virtually with the explorers makes trip planning individual, simple and above all exciting."

360° EXPLORER

With the newly developed 360° EXPLORERS, space and time no longer play a role. The visitor virtually discovers the highlights of the Ötztal and becomes a mountain biker or skier, regardless of the season. The contents are intuitively accessed through a 360° rotation.

360° EXPLORATION

Inspired by the idea of standing on a mountain peak with a panoramic view, the 360° EXPLORER aims to convey the same feeling of freedom and limitlessness. By simply rotating the screen, visitors can discover activities throughout the Ötztal. Specially created 360° POV videos and a night mode complete the versatility of the installation.

INTERFACE-DESIGN

The highlight of the application is the virtual flight over the Ötztal valley, modeled with current digital elevation data. Seasons are switched automatically and all interactions are triggered by turning or by two physical buttons on the side (home and language switching). Usability was a key factor in the design of the application.

PRODUCT DESIGN

The Explorer's product design blends seamlessly with the interior of the visitor center. A distinctive handle bar supports the unit's rotational concept. The wooden housing establishes a link to Ötztal's heritage of traditional woodworking. The back, which is easily removable for revision, continues the polygonal theme found throughout the visitor center.
